Furniture Trends – 2019
Furniture Trends 2019 predict the use of antiques, reproductions and vintage finds as accents to create your authentic personal aesthetic.
“THINGS OF QUALITY HAVE NO FEAR OF TIME”
Antiques, reproductions of antiques and vintage pieces stand the test of time. They are a great way to add classic and classical elements to your home. And, this is a great time to buy vintage and antique furniture with prices more affordable than they have been in awhile.

Makeover Vintage Furniture
My parents left me their bedroom furniture. For my furniture makeover I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and Aluminum Leaf to give it a new look. I chose Annie Sloan Chalk Paint because I love the look of chalk paint on vintage furniture. Also, it usually requires no priming, stripping or sanding. I did do some light sanding with a block and wiped it down with Mineral Spirits because of years of furniture polish on the pieces.
Annie Sloan Svenska – Is a relatively new color. Lighter than the Duck Egg Blue and it was a perfect match with my dust ruffle.
For the nightstands I used Annie Sloan Pure. I did light distressing on the edges for the armoire and night stands just as the pieces would be authentically worn followed by Clear Wax.
I found my bed at The Gatz Home and Garden. They are located in St. Michael’s, Maryland. A great place to visit and perfect for anyone interested in antiques, but they have an extensive online presence. I refinished it with aluminum leaf aged with asphaltum and painted Benjamin Moore Seapearl.
Here is the same bed being sold by Painted Cottages on Etsy $2,495. They have lots of great antique and vintage beds which they have refinished.
